The Long Kiss Goodnight

~~~
After about ten more hours of work, I'm finally putting this piece aside as finished (teh_ache). This is perhaps the first time I actually worked on a -background- as well. Which makes me happy.
The monkey-arm problem's mostly solved, I think, and I beefed up the feet a little (though they're still pretty small). Mostly, I focused on getting a good gradiation from light to dark in most places... and I feel I finally reached that.
But, ooo... ain't they cute?
Good gradiation, definitely--though you could probably do with some darker darks in places, such as their shadows. But otherwise, very nice job.
Like I said in the progression in scraps, I really like the shading on the wall. The whole composition is just lovely, and neat details like Lylah standing on her toes and such stand out. Nice work!
Thanks!
Funny enough, about the wall: It was the first thing that I went, "Merf. I'm gonna have to slave over that to make it look good." And I was right. I must have spent a good 1/4 of the picture's working time on the wall alone. The whole time I was thinking of the flagstones in Warcraft 3, that they had to render by hand, individually. I felt their pain. ^.^;;
I know... the original picture, as it is on my paper, looks quite good, in my opinion. I'm still fighting with das uber-washout on my scanner. It'd be even lighter than this, overall, if it wasn't for Paint Shop Pro's contrast enhancement features, but they can only do so much...
Still, thanks!
My scanner is the worse; it adds all these annoying scan-lines that I can't get rid of. Paint can only do so much.
